So I said I would post closer to the date of the end of the orientation. I think Friday you will see an open class, depending on what school you are teaching (elementary, middle, high).

Saturday I am going with the head teacher of my school to pick up the new teacher. I have no idea who it is and I think we will find out on Saturday. I am technically teaching in Seocho-gu, but it's condsidered part of the Gangnam district school, so I think you will have "Gangnam" on your school assignment.

I just want to say, I am awesome and whoever is getting my school is a lucky person! I completely hooked you up! I stocked your closet/cabinet in the office with toilet paper, wet tissues, soap. I got you all new office supplies. I put all my materials in a special corner of the office and organized them so you know what everything is. I will meet you on Saturday and take you back to the school, so if you have any questions, I can answer them for you. Holla!

Just to add: I love my school, the teachers, the students. Don't be a jerk! You are going to work at a school with people who will help you, so work hard and make the most of your time here. Your students are great and will love you!

Unfortunately we aren't able to see an open class on Friday b/c our quarantine is being extended (H1N1 scare.) We also aren't going to be able to do the bus tour of Seoul. Thanks for taking the time to help out the next teacher. Whomever ends up at your school is a lucky one!

Heh.. I know! I was going to teach that open class with one of the 3rd grade teachers!

Tomorrow, the same teacher will teach another open class, but the other NSET at my school will be co-teaching with her. At least, that's what she told me. I wonder if they will cancel that, too.

I heard that there won't be any real elementary school students, so YOU will be the students! Try to act like 3rd graders and help them out! However, I advised the homeroom teacher in that situation it's better to explain the lesson as they go along. You really aren't going to get a real experience of watching them if there are no students, and I think it's more productive because they can better explain to you the different teaching styles and methods and there can be continuous Q&A.

Yeah, they'll really appreciate the wet tissues when there's no toilet paper and they have to take a big dump!

Plus, it's things like that, the bridging of the NSET that's leaving and the one taking their place, that need to be put into consideration for the future. I know when I started, it would have been nice for someone to let me know what was going on and to explain to me the different personalities and environment in my school.

Also, I think it might help to build more of a community of peers, as in someone you can go to for help or when you have questions. I know the handler and/or co-teachers are there for that, but as many know, they often don't do their job. It's good to learn things on your own, but it's nice having someone tell you where they left off in the books or how to fill out the stupid sheets that you give to the guy who makes photocopies for you!

Anyway, when you find out you are working elementary in Gangnam-gu, PM me!

So I heard the open class today got canceled as well. Was it because of the swine flu too?

Question: What were Michael Jackson's last words?

Answer: "Take me to the children's hospital! I feel a stroke coming on!"

^^ OH, you guys! Actually, she was an older woman. Very nice, open minded, seemed enthusiastic. She was very grateful for what I had set her up with, and I hope she has a good year.
