Hey I got placed at a private school...is this fairly normal?

It's a private school, as in privately-owned gov't school? There are public and private high schools, elementary schools, and middle schools. The major differences are in ownership, but curriculum is the same (basically).

At a private school like this, the principal is king. Literally.

Otherwise, they're all pretty much the same as far as things would go for you.

If it's a hagwon, then that's an entirely different animal. That's a private evening academy.
