I recently found a website for Habitat for Humanity in Korea, so my volunteer work search has started off in the right direction.
I came to this site and tried to use the search function, but found no useful results for volunteer work in Seoul.
I want to do some volunteer work on the weekends, but I do NOT want it to be through any church. Helping the poor is great, but when people have to stand around and pray about it, then I just feel uncomfortable.
If anyone has more additional information about doing volunteer work in Seoul, then please post it here.
P.S. I could care less about the 'consequences' of doing volunteer work on an E-2 visa.

The link provided states that the AN immigration officer SAID that it was fine but that the immigration office would NOT provide WRITTEN documentation to support this.
So, it is probably okay, but do your research. |

If you like animals, Animal Rescue Korea run weekly trips to a shelter out in Asan (about 1.5 hours total trip each way). If you'd rather stay in Seoul, there is a vet in the Gangnam area that takes in rescues and often needs volunteers to exercise the dogs (PM me if you want directions).
The Korea Mountain Preservation League (KMPL) does monthly trips to Bukhansan to pick up litter, and other trips to the rest of Korea's national parks.
There are a few orphanage and English teaching options (e.g. HOPE), but I haven't done any of these. |

You need permission through immigration to volunteer. A few months ago I read that they were making the process for volunteering easier. If you get caught without the proper documentation, theorectically you can be arrested and deported. |
