I just got a job offer from the Jigu Foreign Language Institute in Daegu, and other than a couple of old job listings from years past, I can't seem to find any information about this school online. Does anyone know anything about them and how they operate?

Also, how is living in Daegu? This is my first teaching gig in Korea, but Daegu looks like a pretty good city, all things considered. Thanks for the help!

I've had some friends work there, as well as myself. I never had any major issues. Severence was paid in full, so was my regular pay. Tax and pension were also paid correctly. The owner doesnt speak English, but the head teacher is very fluent.
The school does 2 x 25 minute classes = 1 teaching hour.
Sometime there are 50 minute classes as well = 1 teaching hour.

The only headache is during Summer and WInter vacation times. The academy has extra classes during these times, so you can make overtime. But you don't have a choice (however, it can be shared with other teachers).

The curriculum was fairly easy to work with, and every friday was test day, so you just prepare a written activity or worksheets, pass them out and observe. It's a good area of Daegu, too. Emart and Lotte theater are in the area, as well as the subway.

Great, thank you very much for the reply and vote of confidence! I got a little nervous when there was absolutely nothing written about the school online, so I feel much better about it now.

I've worked there. It was quite the experience dealing with the owner. Phil will try his best to mediate between you and the owner, who doesn't know a lick of English.
Make sure you hold the owner to contract. He can be sneaky.

Good Luck
