|
Hi,
I want to make a collect call either from my land phone, or my cell.
The number is 905-306-2950. How do I do it? I thought I could get an operator by dialing '0' but no such luck....
Thanks |

Here's one method.
If you call: 1 800 419 4084 and enter the number you want to reach followed by the pound sign, you can make a collect call. The catch is that you have to pay a charge to your Korean carrier for accessing a U.S. number. |

That 1-800 number didn't work for me and the link that Beaver provided doesn't actually contain any info on calling collect (at least not that I could find). Anyone else have some advice for me?
How can I reach a local or international operator? |

One cannot make a collect call from Korea. We are not in North America. Try 0-0 and ask for an American operator. |

I'm sorry to hear that. I tried that number before posting to confirm that it would work. It's supposedly DACOM's access number to AT&T. |

Dogbert,
That number actually worked for you? I can't even dial 1-800 before the phone starts ringing and a message comes on that says "The dialed number is not in service". I didn't think 1-800 numbers worked in Korea. |

Well, the catch is that you still have to pay whatever tariff the Korean telephone service provider charges to call outside the country. For that reason, it's not possible to make an international collect call that is charged 100% to the receiving party, AFAIK.
You can access U.S. toll-free numbers from Korea by first dialing 001 (for Korea Telecom) or 002 (for DACOM) (or whatever other provider you choose) and then 1+800+number. |

Isn't there some way to call a number collect from Korea with my SK cell phone? I've been looking for a way to do this all night... |
