Waygugin Parade, an improv group and sketch comedy group in Seoul, is starting its second year. We are a laid-back group that is open to just about any kind of comedic suggestion, from stand-up to film. We've performed six times and recorded our skits for TBSefm about as many times. We won the 2008 Comedy Death Match against Seoul City Improv, our deadly rivals. We like beer.

If you're interested in coming to one of our meetings, we're getting together on Wednesdays at 8:00 downtown. Send an e-mail to WayguginParade at gmail.com for more information.

Thanks!

A sketch that pokes fun at adjummas would be hysterical! Also if you could make some jokes about the ways that Koreans speak english!! Also a real laugher would be about adjoshiis behavior.

Your biggest fan

be careful about criticizing Koreans with this performance. A few years back there was a comedy performance called "Babopalooza" down here in Busan, and from what I remember hearing locals got in a stink about their making fun of Korea, got the police involved, and tried to get people booted from here. A friend of mine lost her visa status for a few weeks, before they gave it back.

Oh, we're extremely careful when we mock Korean culture, at least directly. It's funny the lengths we go to to avoid any and all references to fan death, the inherent disgustingness of kimchi, when "Stand Up Seoul," the stand up comedian group, mocks them mercilessly. I guess there's a different standard for different types of humor, hehe.

What's interesting is figuring what's fair game and what isn't, especially for radio writing. Making fun of purse-carrying Korean boyfriends: fine. Making any reference at all to Lee Myung-Bak's policies: OFFFFF LIMITS. Ha!

Anyway, I'm excited about all the interested e-mails, I can't wait to have some new members at our first meeting since our August hiatus!
