Could somebody please translate this for me? I need to do a load today. Also, I have a top-loading machine and heard I need specific detergent. Any suggestions? THANK YOU!

I've never heard that. I've always just used this one and it seems fine:

Great, thanks so much for your guys' help. I had read something regarding the detergent in my "teacher's manual," but now that I have it in front of me, it says "Front loading washing machines require detergent specifically made for them. Please make sure to check before buying. It may lead to build up and leave soapy residue on clothing." I have a top loader so I guess that doesn't apply to me.

I have a drying function on my washer. But it has to dry for 2 hours. If I had a drier on for 2 hours back home, my clothes would probably catch fire. Does anybody know how to make the drier work better?

Slightly off topic. Remember that most washing machines here just use cold water. You do ned to be careful with your detergent. We bought some "Tide" at Costco and it really made a mess the first time we used it. Now, we stick to Korean brand detergent in the Spring and Summer and just use US brand in the winter (ondol heat is on so hot water is on anyway).

oooooh! I have the exact same machine!

Any old detergent works. I use DRUM powdered detergent, a few scoups. I usually press the 'on' button (top right hand corner), then select the desired cycle (usually 46 min) by pressing the second button from the left on the bottom, then press start (the big purple one).

It's not the best machine, and mine is only hooked up to cold water, but it's fine. If you're a girl, I'd hand wash anything that's particularly delicate.

I spent 32,000 won for the concentrated cold water formula liquid Tide at Costco. The thing is going to last me a whole year because it's good for 98 loads. And it smells a hell of a lot better and does a better job at stain removal than the Korean stuff.

Hi all

Ok new machine.

I don't know one of the controls.

The thing says 물살 and the choice are 강, 중, 약

Now, 물살 means water flow (?), but what exactly does that mean. It's not the temperature or height buttons, those are on the machine and I see them.

I think this refers to either how much water goes into the machine or how swift the water flows ... Yeah, I am not sure on the particulars of washing machines myself.

강 basically means 'strong', so would assume the most water.
중 would be inbetween, the 'standard' setting.
약 is just 'lightly'

My guess is, this can be adjusted to suit the type of laundry you are doing but normally pre-programmed settings adjust this for you. Lightly for lingerie, as an example.

That makes sense, because my "courses" have lingerie and blue jeans. So if I was doing it myself, lightly for the delicates, and heavy for the blue jeans. Cool beans~! Thanks
