OK, so I have my T-Money Card, and I have been taught to ring it in when coming into the subway/bus, and ring it out when you leave. I have two transfers when I go to/leave work. One subway transfer, and one bus transfer.

What I'm wondering is: Is there a special way of transferring where you don't get charged an additional 900 W every time? I am spending 2,500 everytime I go to/leave school. While not exorbitant, this is much more than it's supposed to be... right? Someone help a cheapo English teacher out already!

Are you 100% sure you swiped it on the way out of the bus, every single time? I missed swiping mine on the way out of a bus once or twice and it seemed like my card never recovered and after that the transfers never worked properly, and it was taking 900 each and every ride. I finally gave up and got a new card. It seems like some cards just get messed up or are defective.

There was one time, when I first got the card, that I forgot to swipe out of a bus. Could that seriously be the cause of all my problems?

I doubt it. The cards do go bad, that's true, but there are a lot of factors that come into play. How much time between the transfers? Do you transfer between different color buses, i.e. maeul vs. city vs. intercity? Which bus do you take first? I'd say recharge the card, make sure you swipe the card each time, the time between transfers is short, and see if it always charges you more. I'd bet it's something simple that you missed; we've all been there.

You have half an hour between bus and subway to make the transfer. As far as I know, you only get one transfer: bus to bus, subway to bus, or bus to subway. Perhaps if you transfer transportation three times within a certain amount of time you get another transfer, but I don't know for sure.

If you're transferring to/from an intercity bus (green) to the subway, and not gong a long distance, you should be charged the bus or subway rate and then make the transfer for free or maybe a 100-300 supplement.

If you're transferring to a red bus, or any more expensive bus from the subway, it'll charge you the remainder of the bus fare. Occasionally I get another 100 won off at the end, but I go a long distance.

When I first started taking the Gyeonggi buses, I kept missing the exit card pass and my card kept losing money like crazy because they charge a penalty. It sopped after I was more careful.

It's the subway. You don't get a credit for going subway to subway. Once you swipe out of the subway, you can get on a bus. You CANNOT go subway to subway, with the exception of the AREX line to the airport, and certain line 9 stations.

Get on the subway at Hoegi, when you get off at Seokgye, you should NOT leave the station. DON'T swipe through a turnstile. Follow the directions that say Transfer to line 6, get on line six. you CANNOT transfer subway to subway via a turnstile with the above exceptions (they are more expensive, managed differently). IF you go out of a turnstile and into another, you get charged another 900. You should be paying like 1000, maybe 1100 for that subway ride, not 1800, including bus transfer.

Goo. OK, I haven't seen a way to transfer without going through the turnstile, but there must be someway, and I haven't looked hard enough. How about the bus? Why does the transfer not work there either?

I was an idiot. there was a specific tunnel at the end of the soekgye stop just for transfers. After I found that everything worked out. I don't even get charged anything for the bus ride anymore. Everything's good, sorry it took so long to get back to you guys, I have been busy living LIFE!
