Got a potential job offer in Namyangju but would be living in Yangpyeong. That seems like quite a long distance to travel to work (google maps says an hour and a half by bus!). It's for a public school, and the pay is much better than I expected a public school to offer. Does this commute seem feasible?
Also, what can you tell me about Yangpyeong? I've been told it's rather rural, which is fine by me. Is there a subway line that connects Yangpyeong and Namyangju? Anything else I should know about the area? Thanks in advance for the advice. |

yangpyeong is right next to namyangju, but they both are large and pretty spread out. when i think of yangpyeong, i think very rural. the jungang commuter rail runs out through namyangju toward yangpyeong, but that line leaves the vast portion of both areas untouched. |

Sounds a whole lot better than Pyeongyang
Couldn't resist!
On the average, people are usually not so far from school. An hour and a half? The school could do better than that IMO. Depends if that rural setting is what you are asking for... |

I know only one teacher who travels that much. She does that because she chooses to live with her husband. One of my student's mother lives away because she teaches in Paju. Not only is one and half hour just a bit too much but why would you want to live further away from Seoul than your school? |
