Hi everyone.

I thought I would post a quick introduction.

I have been reading the forum for a while and thought I would register so that I can post a few qustions.

I am thinking of leaving my current in the UK job and training to be an EFL teacher. I would like to teach overseas, maybe in Korea or elsewhere in Asia.

Look forward to chatting with you!

Have a back-up plan in case things don't work out. Here, the gov't public school jobs are making it a habit of hiring people, getting them their visa stamp, and promptly canceling the job 2 days before they come over. People have found themselves pre-paying their own plane ticket with the expectation of being reimbursed, only to find they have no job and must still pay the ticket and/or cancellation fees.

They say they're doing it because too many teachers cancel on them, so the tit-for-tat is OK.

Welcome. Cool

When I read your subject line ... I suddenly felt as if were

Only as the proverbial fly. You can call it as you'd like, but "stint" sounds
harsh to me.

There's no common negative connotation associated with the word stint. It's a term meaning a period of time--nothing positive or negative.
