| I've been in Korea for a few weeks, just started at my new school last week, and I lost my passport this weekend. Assuming I don't find it tomorrow when I go around to everywhere I went since Friday, I will have to get a new one. What happens with my E-2 visa?? Do I have to re-apply for that as well? |

Did you get an ARC card? Probably not, so, in that case, yea you'll have to pay for a replacement through immigration. If you already have your ARC card, that's what immigration needs in order to validate your address and working location.
You might get by, but I would talk to immigration after you get your new passport issued. If you are from the US, the Embassy is near Gwanghwamun station, purple line (5). Good luck. If you don't need to leave the country, then you should be fine.
EDIT: Sorry, I didn't read under your name. You'll have to go to the immigration office in Daegu. I have only been there once, and they are very busy. Give yourself a lot of time.

Thankfully I applied for my ARC last week, it should be here this week or next.
So since I will at least have that, I wont need to pay for a new E-2?
And this really wrecks my Chuseok plans I don't know how this even happened. |

Umm, didn't they take your passport in order to issue you your ARC? I don't exactly remember the procedure, but I would have thought immigration would need both.

Immigration does indeed need a passport to process an application for an ARC.
DrugstoreCowgirl,
Please don't be insulted, but double check with Immi. to make sure you're not just having a 'blond moment'.
If it is truly lost:
1. don't forget about any possible single/multiple re-entry 'stamp' (they now use a sticker); and,
2. the requirement (you will have 14 days) to report the new number of your replacement passport. |

Well, if they do indeed have it, that leaves one question to answer....
Are you going to forget this ever happened and never mention it to another soul, or are you gonna laugh about it every time you get drunk and tell your "you won't believe the crap that happened in korea" stories? |

kkkkkk ^^
years ago, i arrived at the airport in ghana, talking shizz about my teacher who kept telling us to hold on to our passports. 10 min later, i couldnt find my passport. i ran back tot he plane, looked under the seat, inthe bathroom, in the overhead compartment, and just knew karma was getting back at me for being a jerk and talking trash.... then i looked down and the passport was in my hand (under the 3x5 inch disembarkment card) the whole time. |

Losing a passport is a big deal. You need to double check if you just misplaced it and try to find it. Getting a replacement from your embassy is a major hassle. I don't know about the American/ British Embassy. The Canadian Embassy is a joke. It's barely even open and almost impossible to work with.
The first thing you need to do is go to the Police station and report your lost passport. You will get a report from the police station. You need to take this to your embassy. If you need to go to the Canadian Embassy find out if it's open for consular services. The best time to go is in the morning Monday to Friday. They are not open on weekends.
Don't lose it again. |

| Make sure your embassy has your contact information, in case someone actually turns it in. |
