I bought a Samsung Sens Q45c from Technomart last year. It has Windows Vista on it, which I have no problems with, except for one:
It's been almost a year since SP1 was released and every time I install it, it appears to work well, but then, after about 30 minutes, my internet crashes. My computer says I'm still connected to the internet, and I am, because my chat programs (MSN, Yahoo, and Skype) still work, but I can't browse websites. I get the message that you get when you're not connected. Also, I find that after Mozilla Firefox crashes, I can keep using Internet Explorer for a little longer before the same thing happens to it. To get back on the internet, I have to reset my computer, then I have around 30 minutes before it happens again. When I uninstall SP1, the problem disappears.
Has this happened to anyone else? I think I really should install SP1 for my computer's security, but I can't stand the issues that it gives me. I'm moderately computer literate, but this has me very confused. My version of Windows is in English, but all the Samsung update stuff is in Korean. Thanks in advance for any ideas. |

How about SP2?
Maybe you could install both SP1 then SP2. Getting right up to date never hurts. |

Thanks for your help Eamo. Is SP2 out? I haven't seen it. I just checked my installed programs/updates list and I haven't installed it and forgotten. It's not in my update manager ready to install. I just did a search for available updates and all that comes up is Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330). |

SP2 is out. You can get it as a direct download.
But SP1 must be installed first (I think). So do them both quickly. |

Had a hell of a time installing SP2 on Vista via it's regular update service. It wouldn't work because it was blocked due to a problem with a previous update that had come down the pipe. It kept loading, not installing, then canceling the install. I read on Google that multiple people were having the same issues with Vista SP2, and that Microsoft had offered a free tool to handle the issue. I ran the tool, did a reboot, and now we were finally able to get SP2 on our Vista machine.
So much for Vista being "safer" than XP. If you can't get important updates easily, and automatically, then it's not "safer". Don't ask me how computer-inept can ever hope to figure this kind of thing out. |

Ok, thanks for the help. It seems like I should try updating to SP1, then updating to SP2 straight away. I'll give it a go. |
