|
|
Last Wednesday, I set up a cable/internet package in my apartment (the cable is C&M). The guy who was setting it up told me - via my co-teacher - not to turn off the TV using a certain button (the button which turns off the box rather than switching the TV on standby). Anyway, inevitably, I ended up pressing the button (I knew I would; it looks just like the power button on my remote at home). However, everything seemed to be fine when I switched it back on. No problems.
Then yesterday, I noticed two things. First, it took a long time to switch between channels. Second, over half of the channels that I originally had were now missing, including, to my dismay, the sports channels. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? Is this all down to me momentarily switching off the box? Is there any way that it can be rectified?
Thank y'all in advance. |

Can't help you, but we lost Discovery as it's now moved to digital TV. |

yeah sometimes the channels just move around or disappear completely, I lost CNN last year and had to pay an extra 15,000 a month to have it back.
Try the old trick of powering off everything and leaving it for a while, then powering them back on one by one. If that doesn't work....get a Korean on the case. |

It sounds more like your TV is one of those older ones that stores the locations of your channels. When you turned it absolutely off it lost those locations. If you go into the menu, there should be an option to scan for all channels. That might get you some of your missing channels back, and will make changing the channel much faster.
Edit: Or maybe it's this C&M that others are complaining about... |

This sounds right. Some TVs have to sort of flip to every possible channel and log the location of each. How old is your TV? |

I agree. Try doing a channel scan so your TV can make a distinction between channels that are active, and those that are not. I was with C&M for a few months last year and had no problems. If they're dropping channels then drop them and go with a more reliable server. |

What kind of channels do you guys get in English?
Does it cost a lot extra for cable if you want to get ESPN and things like that in English....is that even possible? |
