I fried a Mobo and Intel sent me a new one under warranty. I have the drivers. do I have to reformat my C: drive or will it work if I just reinstall the Intel drivers for the motherboard without reinstalling XP?

All you can do is try and see. I'm guessing if all the hardware is the same, then your installation on your C: drive won't know any the wiser.

Wouldn't the installation on your C: drive have the drivers already installed? Did you get the same model mobo?

Yes, same model, although it is two years newer. I think you're right, I just have to try it.

the motherboard is one of those key things. Windows will want to reactivate. When was the last time you formatted?

6 months isn't that long ago, if it was over a year, I'd recommend a format just for maintenance.
