My educated guess for 8 in the morning is that it is British prejudice towards Celtic women, who were more likely to be redheaded.
Perhaps purple is the color of insanity because for millennia it was the most expensive dye, and so only royalty could wear it. Whether it's too thin a family tree or too much lead in the cups or whatever explanation we use, there is a popular idea of mad kings and emperors.
I never heard of British women eating their placentas. There is a tradition, true or not, that British women were served Guinness after delivery. It all comes back to Guinness!
Uber, at least, sounds better than tres, which sounds horribly pretentious. It's an expression I'm glad has faded.
