I emailed the recruiter, Cindy Park from Good English 1st and asked her if I could talk to one of the current foreign teachers at Seokchun elementary school, where I have been offered an after school public position. I also asked if the program was offered through the school, or through a third party. I also have to stay at a motel b/c I am getting my visa in Korea, and I asked who was going to book it. I have posted the contract she sent me on the thread that has all the contracts posted
here is her reply to my last email:
Dear Ashley
The contract is same as the sample contract.
The actual salary, 2,100,000won was stated on the contract only^^
Visa process
If the process is already started for the F4 visa, it could take faster than we expected.
Motel
The school will book the motel so you dont need to worry about it.
Airport
When you arrive at the airport, I will have someone pick you up and take you to the motel safely.
Arrival date
They want you to arrive in Korea on September21st Korean time.
Airfare
The airfare will be reimbursed to you by the school later when you bring the receipt.
I will introduce a good travel agency that they will help you to find good flights.
Afterschool position
Every afterschool program position has been managed by companies or private agency.
They have cotract with each school and place good teacher for the afterschool program at the school.
Your position has been managed by Woongjin ( one of the biggest companies)
They have managed over 100 schools.
Your company is very stable.
Some private agencies could have financial problems ( I have seen some candidates who have worked for the afterschool program with small private agency have bad experience )
Contact information
The manager will introduce you one of the current teachers with the company
Signed contract
Please email me the scanned copy of the signed contract asap.
I should finally inform the manager that the position is filled by you with the evidence paper( signed contract)
thanks and kind regards,
Cindy |

I know Cindy pretty well from having worked with her at a hagwon a few years ago. She's not the type to set you up with anything shady. Then again, it's all about the Sejongs, so maybe her morals have changed. She tried to set me up with a job at SLP but something better came along. |

OP...it's a crap shoot...plan and simple. 10 teachers before you could have been screwed over while you praise the hell out of the school! Everyone on this site knows this.
You need thick skin and remember...no one forced you to come to korea...so just sit back and enjoy the ride...it might turn out great! Sign the contract, if it turns out to be a bad place down the road, suck it up and roll with it until your year is up, network, make friends, have doors opened for you and try another school. It's only a year out of your life even if it turns out bad....and it might turn out to be the best year! |
