Hey again.

I've read that you qualify for Level 2 pay if you have a degree in "English Language and/or Literature". My degree is Linguistics, which I guess counts as "English language". I certainly have more experience with teaching language/ESL than the average English lit major! Will EPIK count this for level 2?

If they are hesitant, is it worth negotiating with them or with the schools? I feel like 2.1 mil would be a reasonable salary to request - does that sound right? Or should I just accept what they offer?

Thanks for any advice you can give!

degree with a major in English ..../Linguistics (must be clearly stated on either the diploma certificate or official transcript)
If you can satisfy that statement in brackets then you'll be level 2.

Sorry, I don't understand...

My diploma will say "B.A. in Linguistics"

Is that enough?

Looks to me, as it is clearly stated on your diploma certificate, that you satisfy cat 2.

Are you sure? My 'sheepskin' doesn't list my major (only the degree).

Ya, I was a little confused when I received mine too. I was like.... "Um... where's my major?" Maybe different schools/degrees have different things?

Oh, wait OP. I just realized you said "My diploma will say 'B.A. in Linguistics'"

Have you seen someone else's diploma? Or are you just assuming. Mine says like Bachelor of Science I think.

You guys scared me a sec!!

Per my university registrar's website:

"Undergraduates with one major:
Your degree, major, University honors, and graduation date will be reflected on the diploma."

Cool, so it must be on a university to university difference. LOL. When I got my diploma, I actually pulled my transcripts online to see what had happened.

I don't think it really matters - if your major is not actually on the 'degree', it will be on the transcripts.

I'd be more concerned re: whether or not the Ks will consider a Linguistics major as 'counting'.
