I too am looking forward to see '9'. I have always been a fan of Tim Burton. But I think it will be hard to beat Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Edward Scissorhands. He has produced just as many bad movies as good ones. We'll see this weekend I guess.
I was thinking about watching "The Case of Itaewon Homicide." However, I watched the preview the other day and felt like vomiting after.
I hope next month Korea gets some better movies. |

This is the part of the world where hollywood dross makes the keenest profit. The movies that show here are part of the audiences aspirations.
They don't want doom and gloom. I predict Asia will replace Vegas as a last hurrah. |

Interesting way of seeing things. However, how would you explain the Korean movie "Haeundae" or the more recent "The Case of Itaewon Homicide". Quite doomy and gloomy if you ask me.
My personal belief why Korea keeps on playing the junk is simple. They want their movies to be more popular than Hollywood. Well, at least in their own country. Play some of the junk and a hand full of the block busters, but keep their own a priority. After all, they do not want to drive their own businesses out.
I am currently working on Japan Movie Times http://japanmovietimes.com and it is almost the same as Korea. Just Japan has more theaters and more Japanese movies... and of course way more animation.
Now about Asia being the new Vegas ... I am all game for that. However, Vegas will be Vegas and Korea will be Korea. Last time I heard of a good poker game in Korea, it was busted by the police. Perhaps Cambodia is the real place to be for that. |

Haven't seen them but I'd imagine they were exceptions that prove the rule.
Kim Ki Deok is more "popular" outside of Korea also. |
