Nancy Pelosi looks like she wants to cut somebody, lol.
People heckled and booed Bush and Clinton, but I've never heard of an instance of someone coming out and straight calling the President a liar like that.
OMG.
Now poor Joe Wilson is trying his best to backtrack.

This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the Presidents remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the Presidents statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility. |

I don't recall any member of Congress ever shouting out during a formal speech that the prez is a liar, either. |

So what? Obama IS a liar. Practically everything he says is a lie, and that's the truth.
What's really pathetic though is offering such a spineless, soppy apology for it afterward. |

FactCheck.org described those claims as "false" and noted that one version of the legislation already includes an explicit bar on federal funding for illegal immigrants' health care. |

So looks like Wilson was wrong in calling Obama a liar. oh. |

Mumbo jumbo. The bill is like 1000+ pages long, and that blurb is the furthest thing from comprehensive - it's just more empty words.
As long as it is mandatory for hospitals to treat all patients who show up at their doors, it is irrelevant if illegal immigrants get federal "coverage" or not. They will still get treatment, and it will be paid for by American tax dollars.
Anyway, the real issue is the government doing nothing to enforce laws and leaving the borders wide open. |

I notice the guy didn't apologize for actually being wrong on the substance of his outburst. That would have been nice, too.
I'm looking forward to the next couple of weeks. Obama promised to call out the liars. He's read up on Lincoln and FDR, but I hope he re-reads his Harry Truman before he does any tongue lashing. It would be refreshing to hear him lambast the dorks with some good old-fashioned Anglo-Saxon words. "Give 'em hell, Harry!" has a ring to it...updated: 'Bitch 'em out, Barack!" Hmmm, needs a little work.

???
Do you remember any instance of such disrespect by a member of Congress during a speech to a joint session of Congress? Wilson doesn't either, hence the almost instant apology. However, there are always some who long for the days when Senator Preston Brooks beat Senator Charles Sumner unconscious on the floor of the Senate.
Wonder if Rep. Wilson will get censored for it. What he did was against the rules of the House. It would make for an entertaining week or two of Beck & Limbaugh defending his right to break the rules.

No. But Ya-Ta, your memory is longer than mine.
Here's something fun. Joe Wilson's opponent has raised $41,000 since his outburst. Rob Miller just won the political lottery. |

The public option is about insurance, not coverage. Insurance wouldn't and couldn't be provided to illegal immigrants.
If you want to argue about the U.S. currrently treating illegal immigrants who've been hit by a car (or whatever), go ahead. That'd be great for a civilised nation to have bodies (literally) on the street. |

Yes, it is longer, and a couple of weeks ago it got even longer--yet another birthday.
Glad to see someone is benefiting from the slide into slimyness. My first reaction was that this outburst can't do him any good. There are too many people who still think good manners are good, even if they are a bit old-fashioned. Not to mention that he broke House rules. |

Here's a little bit of extra on Rep. Wilson you may not see on Fox. This is from Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina, House Majority Whip:
Joe Wilson took our state's reputation to a new low. I thought Mark Sanford had taken it as low as it could go, but this is beyond the pale," Clyburn said.
"Joe is very confrontational," he added. "He held his first town hall meeting three blocks from my house at my kid's high school. Now why would he have this town hall meeting in my congressional district, three blocks from my house in my kid's high school? It's not in his district.
That's the kind of guy Joe Wilson is. He loves confronting people. So he was confronting the president, just as he was confronting me."

THAT is interesting. I didn't know that could even happen. |
