Governments - when introducing a minimum wage - always seem to set it at a rate which the market is already paying, pretty much. Funny, that.
You see, Fox, leftist politics takes credit for what the market has already previously done - in the same way that the religious take credit for morality, despite the clear fact that morality evolved thousands of years prior to the evolution of the religions.
Why don't governments set the minimum wage at $20 per hour? The answer is the same as the answer to "why didn't the writers of the Bible say 'God says kill anyone you want to kill'?". They couldn't possibly do it, because the standard evolved prior to the edict. This is the stealing the concept fallacy. |

Yes. In the US African Americans are harmed as they are forced to work for a minimum wage while illegals aren't. This places AA's at a disadvantage to Mexicans and others who are able to work for less than the MW. Either you remove illegal labour or you remove the MW for AA's to remove the distortion. It's worth noting that as Mexicans have been returning home African Americans have seen a few months here and there with increasing over all employment levels, despite the depression. |
That's an interesting point. I suppose the proponent of minimum wage laws would say the ideal solution is to enforce illegal immigration laws more strictly, but that's both more difficult and more prone to error than removing the minimum wage. |
Either legalize them or deport them. A minimum wage can't function as it is intended in a country that has 10-12 million hard working illegal workers. |

Its called a visa. Give them most visas.
