Nope. Too many young, homesick headcases in Korea for my blood. They bitch and moan about their jobs and how much they hate Korea, yet stay, stay, and stay some more. And I'm going to hang with co-teachers, who are even worse?

I only have 2 co-teachers, both Korean, and I have gone to dinner with both of them together, and with them individually. I consider them to be friends now and I like spending time with them outside of school.

I recently got 2 new co-teachers and one of them, an attractive and svelte 25 year old wants to hang out with me to improve her English. This is all good, but I really don't want to start anything with her, and if we hang out it'll probably happen, so I keep a friendly distance. Dinners and get to togethers with others is totally cool, though.

When I worked in a hagwon a few years back, yes. I made some good friends that I still keep in touch with even though they have left Korea. Since beginning ps life a couple of years ago, no. I am friendly with most all of the staff in the school, but most people have families and don't do so much hanging out; nor do I other than with my gf.

The co-teachers who I've gotten to know so far really want to distance themselves from their jobs (both psychologically and physically)... so hanging out with them would be a bit difficult to arrange, even if I wanted to.

Only Korean teachers at my school besides one. So far, I haven't said more than 1 or two words to the math teachers. Besides that, there are 3 other teachers. One is just a coworker, one is good for dinner, and the other one is really great, and her daughter calls me auntie (5 year old, so cute!).

Yes. Including weekends away and road trips. Also, other subject teachers from my school. Had dinner with one's family tonight, in fact.

My FLHS co-workers are an awesome bunch. Lots of married people, so it's hard for us to get together, but rip-roaring smart, boozy, and cool when we do.

Definitely not... the exception being twice a year when my v.p. wants to include me in some 'special'/family/festival weekend. I 'go along' because I know on which side my bread is buttered. Alcohol was invented for this reason. Cool

I'm still having nightmares about being forced to hang out with Korean co-workers! I was ignored while they drank and played cards all night but I just HAD to be there.

Not a lot of fun!!
