Hey guys i'm new to Daves. I was wondering if any one has taken the Busan ferry to Japan? Is it better than flying? What did you do when you arrived? Did you stay in Fukuoka or travel the country? I trying to get a grasp of trip ideas for Japan. Thanks

The ferry takes 3 hours and is pretty stable even in rough seas. Once you get to Fukuoka there is a bus on the left once you exit the terminal which will take you to the center of the city (Hakata station). From there you can hop on a train to almost anywhere. I recommend you get the JR pass so you can hop on a train easily and if you use it a lot, save tons of money. Need to get it while in Korea though as they don't sell it in Japan.

The rough seas part isnt true. I rode it during one of the August 2007 typhoons and it was hell. Seasickness galore. Just compare the prices between flight and ferry. If it`s close then comes down to personal preference.

The slow ferry is fine and is cheaper and less hairy.
