I don't remember ever having to show a ticket to immigration. I don't think they care.

Have your passport, ARC and the application form(or fill it out at the immigration office). Go to the immi. office & hand those over w/the required cash(long time scam against waygookins, but....). They'll stamp the permit* in your passport.

*multiple or single

As stated, you don't show any sort of ticket, one-way or otherwise, to get a re-entry permit.

At the Seoul immigration office you can get a re-entry permit good for one-time-only, or an unlimited re-entry permit valid for one year. At Incheon International's Immigration Office, you can only get the single re-entry permit, which if you don't mind the additional cost and like the convenience, you could just keep doing every time you went out of the country for the next year.

The prices were something like 40,000 KRW for single and 80,000 KRW for multiple.

EDIT: ^ something like the prices for Americans, I forget how price vary among other nationalities.

I'm told for at least Korean-born public school teachers, a list is sent out at the end of every school year detailing who left the country/when. So if the principle then chooses to check the list/think back, I suppose there could be a problem, although it seems unlikely. I know of several Korean-born public school teachers who have flaunted the 2-week quarantine nonsense.

Is it odd that I was given a multiple entry visa from consulate without even asking? It was the Boston consulate.

Its not odd.

Immigration is screwy. I asked for a multi-permit when applying for my E-2 but they told me it was "impossible" Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Thing is, I know they were lying (what could I do? I NEEDED my visa) because in the previous year I got my multi E-2 from Fukuoka. Go figure.

I think, now...I'm just guessing, but I think if you have a hagwon E2 you get the multiple entry visa, but if you work for EPIK you get a single. But that's just based on my experience and I could be wrong. It could all be random. Or it could be one way for Americans (like me) and different for other nationalities. Who knows?

Heh- I'm American and work for the public school system GEPIK

maybe that is the case, since in my first year I worked for a hagwon.
still its silly (hagwons give 10 days vacation, public schools 20- and we don't get a multiple entry visa?? Are we supposed to stay in Korea the whole time?? ) Evil or Very Mad
