If you ever flip to channel OCN, you may come across a TV series called, "Legend of the Seeker." Watch 2 or 3 episodes and you will have seen 95% of the cliches listed here.

That show is horrible. That old wizard dude is a composite of every rotten B-grade Hollywood straight-to-video budget flick.

It seems that the future, the next 20 or up to 50 years, will be a much more sinister, cold, and callous time, with greater uniformity among people and all other things, less individualism, full of strange dangers that lurk here and there, and lots of white buildings in the cities. Oh yeah, and lots of personal flying machines. And this will be either LA or New York.

How could you say that about Zeddicus Z'ul Zorander? Was there ever a character name more obviously created by a 12 year-old? Unbelievably, this show is getting an 8.1 over at IMDB (I went there to check the spelling of the wizard's ridiculous name). Everything about this show hackneyed.

Less-than-tough guy holds gun on tough guy.

Tough guy says "You know how to use that thing?" or "Put that thing down before you hurt yourself."

Stupid.

It's pointed at you, dumbass!

I just watched a flick called The Marine with WWE star John Cena and noticed it was chock full of many of the cliches listed here. There were 4 "running away/diving just as something explodes" scenes

I suppose it would be hard to make a good movie with no cliches, as there are so many, and even real life has a few now and then.

The "I gave you my handkerchief, but now you blew a ton of snot in it, so keep it". Who carries around a handkerchief anyway?

I would say Memento and The Usual Suspects are two decent examples of not following cliches.

I guess comedies are allowed to be cliche in the name of funny.

A guy holds a gun to someone's head demanding something. That something is not immediately forthcoming so, to let them know he is serious, he loudly c0cks the gun. Do bad guys always use single action guns?

Pump action shotguns also make a dramatic showpiece.
Someone will have one and wait until things get serious before they chamber a round.

And my favorite- The double pump!
Reminds me of an old Married with Children episode when someone had gotten arrested and had a menacing cop/guard standing by them. He pumped it once at the beginning of the scene and yet again when it was time to go. Confused
