With the way Cameras have slimmed down and become so compact, why not have double lens cameras? Our bodies have 2 lenses (eyes).
I think the camera's biggest limitation is the fact it can only shoot what is directly in front of you.
With today's technology, why not make a camera with 2 lenses. You can increase the field of vision dramatically. I would also think pictures could be better focused with 2 lenses pointing at an object, and having the camera's processor/autofocus zero in on the subject in question and snapping a a great pic.
I just think if you use a wide angle lens, you end up with things like barrel distortion. Panarama shots (using gimicks like stich assist) still give a very distorted image.
I think with today's technology, it should be feasible to have 2 lenses side by side that could be properfly focused with an advanced autofocus control.
What do you think?
*EDIT*
I see that Kodak has a dual lens camera, but I think ts functionality is different that what I'm thinking. I'm thinking about a camera that can see horizontally the same degrees of vision that a human eyes do. |
