I've done a few searches but only found info about geting suits tailor made.
Does anyone know any good places in seoul to get a dress altered. It's not only changing the size, but also some big alterations to the style.
It's my grandma's old wedding dress....so i want to go somewhere where i can trust them to do a good job....and my korean isn't great yet so a tailor who speaks english would be great |

For a tailor, Itaewon.
For some hemming, my friend, whose business is running a clothing factory, has taken me to some shops in front of Ehwa Women's University. The ajummas there can sew like none other. |

Gizmo,
Just wondering if you've had any luck. I don't consider Itaewon a good place to go for dressmaking, but just based on my experience thus far. Clearly you can have nice shirts made (generally just ripped from mens' styles, though), and jackets, but I have never seen a tailor with dresses in his shop. All I have ever seen for dresses in Itaewon are the god awful spangly sequined things that look like something from....I can't even think of anything that bad to compare them to. Besides, I have seen very little in the way of fabric choice for women in any of the tailors shops. I'd love for someone to prove me wrong!
Are ateliers the Korean equivalent for women? Can anyone recommend one, if so? |

Yeah, to be honest i'm not sure about itaewon either, a lot of info i found about men having suits made there sounded like it could be a bit hit and miss!
BUT, a friend of mine is a designer..she works in vietnam at the moment, and knows someone who knows a good tailor in seoul. So, i'm waiting to hear back about it...if it all goes well i will post my findings back here! |
