Anyone who hates on Country music is hating on white people's R&B and has been so brainwashed by fear of anything white that they are prejudiced and bigoted. |
Really? Are you freaking kidding me?! Is that something daddy told you all the years you were growing up? I grew up in the poor white slum neighborhoods of east Texas, jumping from trailers to one bedroom houses while my dad drove a 'big rig' truck for work. All the people around me listened to country music while I was growing up, my dad, friends, girlfriends, everyone, and guess what!!! I HATE country music! I always have. I think it's terrible whinny, depressing nonsense. Country music is where people like Kenny Loggins go when they are washed up and can't write REAL music anymore. By your logic, I guess I'm also "prejudiced and bigoted," having a fear of anything black because I don't like chopped and screwed rap... |
This is music- there is no logic to what I'm saying.
I should have made a distinction between new country and old/outlaw country. If you grew up with new country...yeah that stuff is pretty bad.
But I still maintain that a lot of country music haters don't give country a fair chance. I dealt mostly with suburbia, so we weren't over-exposed to it like you were (I can see where you're coming from- anything 24-7 gets tiring) but there was some good, entertaining country that you had to 'ambush' people with to get them to realize country music wasn't bad. Everyone listened to rap or rock and to listen to anything else would risk 'uncomfortable moments'.
All it took was one play of "Crazed Country Rebel" and suddenly Hank the IIIrd was right up there with Marley, System of a Down, and Dr. Dre.
It can be depressing, but so is most rock, rap, and blues. If you want happy music there is K-Pop.
"Dude country music is so depressing" "What do you listen to?"
"Rap and Rage Against the Machine" |
