Since most foriegners must use prepaid phone cards. Where can you buy them in the Bundang areas? I know about Itaewon but it seems difficult to find them. I have a KT phone and buy the SHOW cards but anything that works is Ok.

I am still needing to know all the places you can by the Show or prepaid cards for our prepaid phones. I need the list for the Gyeonggi do Province.

I can't . A prepaid phone can only be used inside of Korea. I usually buy the Show Cards but it is difficult to find who sells them. In Suwon I could only find one small booth near the subway station. Now that I am in Bundang I found a Show store that sells them. I am trying to find a list of locations to put in the next newsletter for Atek

I use a prepaid phone. I recharge at any KTF Show store. I can call international using my phone without a phone card, and still pay slightly more than when I use local minutes.

I am not sure how to do that. I was in China this summer and could not use the phone. Is there a special way to do it. Thanks for the info. I tried that one time and I had a real difficult time getting them to understand me. Also when I went to the Show room that had the cards the girl there did not realize they even had the cards. It was a difficult process. It took me all of 45 minutes to get an answer

So you're back in Korea and want to charge your phone?

If your phone hasn't been charged in 2 months then you basically need to set up a whole new account with KTF again. There is no contract, but the phone will be 'shut off' from the network after 2 months of inactivity. I am not sure if that's your problem.

If you simply want to 'recharge' your phone. I have never had a problem. Walk in Show, hold up your phone and say re-charge juseo in the best Korean you can muster up. He will ask your phone number, or your ARC number as the new system requires.

If you didn't open your phone account with an ARC, then you will have to give them your passport number.

I never even knew cards existed. Are these cards for calling international or recharging your phone? If so I can just tell you a simple way to make international calls.

You don't need a phone card at all.

If you have an SK phone go to any SK store.

If you got a KTF/Show phone, go to a Show store.

Ask them to recharge, hand them your ARC if you used it to open the account, if not, hand them your passport number (or your passport).

They may or may not ask you for your phone number.

Then they will ask you how much you want to charge. Typically 10,000 is the minimum.

What about Free-T? Can I go into any LG store? (I've been upping it using my bank account but the 1500 won account transfer fee is slightly bothersome as I usually recharge it a few times a month)

Get on the Net and use SKYPE. You can call computer to any phone for about 2 cents a minute. Computer to computer is free, and the quality is better than anything I've heard through a phone card service.

I don't use SKYPE when calling home. I use MagicJack. Sure it cost me 50$ up front, but unlimited USA/Canada calling for a year (home and cell phones). Yea, beat that Cool

I only use my Korean cellphone for emergency calls abroad.
