Hi I'm not an Aussie myself but just a quick question. I was watching a program a few months ago about food in Australia. On the program they were showing this wierd creature which was referred to as a bug of some sort but I can't remember the name of it or even find it on the internet. It was more like a land walking lobster than anything else. Does anyone know what that was? I have tried searching the internet all day and couldn't find it. If you know anything about this wierd cuisine please let me know. The memory lapse is just killing me.

Mortan Bay bugs and Balmain Bugs are basically the same thing? If it's seafood and had bug in the name then that's what it is.

There's nothing else I know of in Australia that's seafood and has bug in it's name.

Oh yeah, I'm an Aussie.

I am not an Aussie but spent quite a few years there and we served Balmain Bugs at the first restaurant I worked in. Looked like little Lobsters.

The only thing I think of that meets this description is a Land Crayfish/Yabby.

Yeah I think it's the morton bay bug now that I've seen the picture but I think they said in the show that it wasn't seafood or something like that so I assumed it must only lived on land. Thanks a lot for all the answers on this guys.
