Hi Flying to Daegu on Sunday.
Just wondering should I bring some money in cash (UK sterling) or try get some Won here in UK (can u get Won outside Korea?)...or just use my cards when i get here (I have maestro with the cirrus symbol)
Just wondering what's best to start off with while I find my bearings

Bring cash. Don't change it at the airport, the rate is terrible.
If you bring your bank cards you can use bank machines at some convenience stores like 7/11, but you pay a fee for that service. |

| I ordered some won from the bank before I left the UK, but it took a few days for it to arrive, so you've probably left it a bit late. There is a currency conversion place in Incheon airport arrivals, so you can change your sterling into won there. Not sure if Maestro cards will work in cashpoints over here, I can use my Visa debit card, but only at certain ATMs! |

I got cash at Heathrow over the counter no problem. the rate was alright aswell, about 2000w to the pound. After that I just used cash machines to withdraw, it's pretty painless. What is strange though is the ATM's in the corner shops are more likely to work for you than the machines in the big banks (barring KEB). |
