is a CBC from last year still valid... if I have not left the country?

That is the question.

But you have to expect two things from the Korean Government.

1) They do not operate until the guise of logic. Your logic is your CBC is still good because you did not go back to your country in the mean time and commit a crime. But for the government it is the simple question they will ask. Is it less then six months old good. More than tough luck. You can try and use the old one. It may work but the odds are against you

2) Non consistency. The joke is you go to one office and ask a question they say no. Go back the same day and get a different answer. Go to a different city and get a completely different answer. So once again you can try and use the old one and you may get lucky and it will get accepted but the oddsa are still the answer will be no.

My advice is get a new one. While you are waiting submit the old one with some copy of your passport pages showing you have not left the country. If they demand it tell them its coming. Just maybe you might get lucky.

Six months ends validity on all of them.
Simple as that.

If you were in country the whole time talk to immigration, it depends on the visa status, the new job you are applying for, and if you left the country even for a second.

Bottom line is no, but there are a few exceptions if you walk the right line at the immigration office.

I may have sounded odd there, but lets be clear.

EPIK says that you need a valid CBC. Your CBC is one year or more old. It is completely invalid. There are provisions where immigration can stamp it valid by attaching a rap sheet for your time in Korea to it and make it into a magic paper that trumps EPIK standards for 6 months old.

In other words Immigration is the issue not your CBC. If you want to apply you need an original apostiled CBC from your home country or the magic Immigration trump card for the one that got you here in the first place.

I suggest you just re-apply in the home country.
Immigration status and application status are different.
Whatever I may have sounded like, facts are facts and flashing a magic F-2 won�t rekindle an old CBC

maybe. if you can get the immigration to give you a magic trump card... aka validating that you did no do anything in korea.

I do have a CBC from korea. that at least show I didn't do anything in the country.

Read post two, then my ignorant copy of it. They say almost the same thing.
Talk to immigration about re-validation.
In the mean time re-apply back home.

6 months old = dead CBC
END of story.

what about going to the embassy. doing an affidavit. and getting them to stamp the sucker and date that?

kinda puts the presser on doesn;t it?... I mean. they are no longer going against me... they are going against a country.

Well, I got a CRC from Australia where I grew up since I was 14. Since I used my UK passport instead of the Australian one, they told me that I need a CRC from both. Not to mention the fact that I have been to the UK twice for holidays only years and years ago, not to mention that I already obtained an E2 visa three years ago.

They terminated my contract and I am now homeless and jobless in Korea. On the basis that I dont have a CRC from a country I havent lived insince I was a minor. You are so right about immigration and the complete repulsion they have for logic and common sense.
