I watched that too. It was silly in some ways, but just the fact that the guys can also speak Korean makes them less monkey-like in Korean people's eyes, don't you think? At least they have that.

Most foreigners sell their souls to get on Korean TV. If they want to act like asses, let 'em.

hehe... pretty good one.

So I take it that you find this racism amusing? In that case you'll keep your mouth shut about all the horrible "racism" you see on this board. Clearly racism is fine with you.

All countries have faults, but one thing you could definitely say is that no joke like that would ever make it past a publisher in the west.

And it's interesting that we are stupid, as we somehow seem to have found ourselves ruling the world, dumb luck I guess.

My apology. I didn't know foreign was a race. Stupid me!

Yeah thats true and Kudos to them for mastering the language.
They are obviously intelligent guys so why do they feel they have to act so ridiculously to entertain the Koreans.Theyve obviously sussed out what the Koreans want from them and if that is two act like monkeys then i find that a little disturbing. On the other hand Korean entertainment often appears to me to be at a very immature level anyway.

that's ok, english isn't your first langauge. just for your edification:

RACIST: The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?r=2&q=%20racist%20

so yes, when koreans feel that they are somehow superior to "foreigners" they are indeed espousing racist views.

I would feel less silly acting out English accents on tv a few times than singing 'under the spreading chestnut tree' and various other classics in a hagwon kindergarten class every morning for less money...

To be fair, Matthew (the British one) is a fun guy and acts that way in real life as well.

That would be westerners dude. Playing dumb is an immature tactic.

Stupid you indeed. You don't have to be attacking one race only to be acting racist. If you believe your own race is superior to all others you're very much in the racist camp.

Stupid people are in every nation..when we learn to completely see past a person's race, and focus only on their attitude, disposition, or personality, then we'll advance a lot further.
It'd be good if all countries in the world did it simultaneously. The problem is that only western nations seem to be leading by example- and are getting taken advantage of because of it...

[Well so many countries are going through or have gone through that process, it takes time to develop a bilingual culture, a long time. And I've met countless Koreans who can artulate deep thought in English, so have you. At least they are trying, no English speaking countries make that effort. In fact I doubt most English speaking countries are actually capable of it. So who's stupid?

I agree, english speaking countries lack skills in other languages.... but of course if i spent a lot of cash learning a language, I'd pick it up fairly quickly. It'd take a lot less time than a decade of weekly classes and a small fortune. And Other countries seem to be a lot better at learning english than korea. so who's stupid?

Well if you were a ten year old kid, I think you would take a lot longer to learn a foreign language. Who really wants to learn a foreign language at that age anyway. Most hakwons are not designed for learning regardless and most kids don't really want to learn English anyway. If you taught really motivated adults, I bet they would be speaking reasonably fluent English in quite a bit less than a decade.

Anybody remember an incident a sveral days ago where a Chinese NBA player was referred to as a "Chinaman" from a radio personality?I know the offender profusely apologized and the PR camp offered to air anti-racist PA, but do you actually believe it was purely an accident par ignorance?Even if it was an accident, western nations aren't the only ones getting taken advantage of.

It is believed that a person has a much higher chance of becoming fluent in a language if they start before adolescence, the mind is much more flexible and the memory is better when a person is young.

I'd be interested to see wether Koreans learn better from a Native speaker teacher in a hakwon setting or in a govt. school setting. I reckon hakwons are generally inneficient at teaching English.
