Homeplus less than man won
Dry, nothing special couldn't really taste any fruit, but I have had worse esp for the price. medium bodied. I suspect it may have been very slightly corked as there was a very faint oder of sweaty socks, however it was very slight.
Might buy again as I seem to remember buying this in the past and having a better bottle |

i like the cabernet box from costco. 5l for 38000. as long as you drink it within a couple of weeks its good and cheap.
they also have banrock station chardonnay at 2l for 22000 so hopefully at some point in the future theyll get the red.
there should be some chusock deals coming soon which might be worth stocking up on. |

If you really like wine, do a Korean web seach for 'Wine Expert'. This is a company out of Canada that sells 'kits' so that you can make your own. The stuff is better than anything you will get in a store in Korea for under 100,000 won, and it will have lower levels of sulfate preservatives (read: no headaches). You can increase or decrease the oak, too.
The 'store' that imports these kits will have everything you need to process your own batch (storage, filters, pumps, corking, labling...), and you can choose from produce from the best vinyards in the world. Each kit makes about 25-30 bottles, averaging 7-12 bucks a bottle (in stores, these would run 25-over 100 a bottle).
I had this last time I was back in the US on the heels of a substantial vinyard and wine tasting tour, and the wines were better than 80% of those produced by vinyard/wineries.
Just a thought. Great investment in value if you have some decent storage...or a healthy and consistent thirst for vino. |

Baesangmyun brewery wines.
They have classic grape and mulberry added (green or red) both are decent but over priced to my taste at the normal price. Lotte Mart is, or was, depending on location having a big sale on them that brought the price down to reasonable.
It is what Manischewitz would be if they made wine not grape flavored Kool-Aid for Kosher people who need a kick to get thorough Passover.
Classic Concorde grape wine but a good brew if you don�t mind a mild sweet wine. The mulberry is about the same only a tiny hint more fruit flavor. Surprisingly I got more cheery than mulberry.

Personally as a vintner and long time purveyor of wine I don�t think that is quite factual. Sulfates are naturally occurring in all wine, so it is a matter of how sensitive your body is to the chemical and many other factors that determines the hangover.
Purity levels are a big deal and therefore you can control that much easier when you make your own. I think sulfates are in the category of MSG, the allergy and effect exist but it depends on the quality of the chemical added. Some will affect a few people others are dirty and will affect large numbers of people.
There is only one cure all for a headache (hangover), clean brew and water. Even then nothing can stop it if you drink too much of anything. Other than that get to know yourself. Heck I can�t drink two cans of butt (sorry meant Bud) without a migraine but can drink box wine all night. |

As a sommelier and wine bar server, this is just shameful.
Is there any chance of getting a nice Bordeaux or Burgundy for a reasonable price? Or would one have to go to a wine bar and pay $20 for a glass of mediocre Oregon Pinot? |

While I mainly have been reviewing the under man won bottles there are some good wines here.
The australian yellow tail selection is a pretty good drop for around 15,000.
The australian wolf blass Eagle hawk range is also pretty good no way near as good as the reserve range but pretty good also around 15,000
There is a very nice NZ pinot noir at emart for 30,000 (or there was 6 months ago).
You will have to change your regions if you want to drink quality here for a reasonable price. Australia has some vey nice wines (and some terrible ones), Most of the New Zealand ones I have seen here are at the higher end of the scale. There is a whole range of South American ones which vary considerably in quality. I would stick away from the french wines here, I may just have been unlucky but I have yest to try a nice french wine here.
I have noticed a lot of people say disparaging things about wines from supermarkets. Maybe it's just coming from NZ where most wines are sold in either supermarkets or from the vineyard, rather than from wineshops. But I have to say I trust the supermarkets here more than the wineshops. Neither place stores the bottles correctly yet stock moves of the shelf quicker, I have found temperature to be better controlled in supermarkets than the small wineshops (less chance of cooking).
And finally regarding banrock station red 2l. Unless you have tried it then don't discourage it. I too was amazed to find that it really wasn't bad. It beats over half of the wines I have written about in this thread. Sure it won't win awards but it is hands down the best cast wine I have ever had |

I guess I'm just spoiled when it comes to wines, but I think that yellow tail is trash. However, I imagine that as far as selection goes in Korea, that's probably pretty good. Is there really no higher quality old world wines at all? Spain? Italy? France? I'd hate to have to drink nothing but Australian swill and South American fruit bombs for years on end.
I'm not afraid to drop $30 on a bottle, though, so keep that in mind. I just want to know if it's even available, cost doesn't mean much to me. |

I have to admit, I was quite enjoying this thread and was a bit disheartened to have to dig back all the way to page 6 to find it, so I offer this as a review (and a well-deserved bump):

MegaMart 9000 (on sale)
A good, medium-bodied wine. Berry flavours. Very smooth and drinkable. Would definitely buy again.
BTW, attention Busan (Nam-gu and Suyeong-gu) shoppers: MegaMart has some pretty good discounts on wine (as of last week, anyways). |

Ifound Mouton Rothschild in a Homeplus in Daegu so there is any quality of wine available if yousosearch for it.
I think Homeplus does CloudyBayfor not too much over what it costs in the UK, a coupleof the good Argentine Malbecs are actually cheaper. (Terrazas Afincado Malbec was about 50,000 won which is about the same or less than the price here.)
The Chateau Talbot 2004 was alsowellpriced at 60,000.
I will say this is compared to the UKwhich is not the cheapest wine country to start with. |

do you remember wolf blass yellow label from like 97-2001. Those were good years.
currently i am on the lookout for paraquita portugese red. and caramba spanish red. so good.
the chiantis are good at home plus and emart. a bit expensive but dependable for sure.
Home plus and emart do well with the chilian wines. gato negro is piss though. |

horribly sweet, one of the worst wines I have ever drunk next to jinro house red. Think concentrated grape juice mixed with soju. sticks to the tongue. My friend liked it though
didn't buy it in the first place and in future will never let it pass my door again |
