On the Ukraine version of "America's/Britain's Got Talent" this girl won by brilliantly combining sandpainting, dramatic music, a giant light box, and her imagination to interpret Germany's invasion of the Ukraine during WWII.

The judges and much of the audience were moved to tears - I think largely by the artistry displayed and also by remembrance of the painful historical event being evoked.

Despite that sentimental angle, I think that her performance - talent-wise - topped anything shown on "America's Got Talent" this year (but maybe not "Britain's Got Talent".)

Thanks for posting this rteacher.

I was in the Ukraine for a year, Kyiv - and I can say without a doubt that out of all the countries I've lived/visited in E.Europe - Ukraine seems to have the tragedy of WWII the most firmly scrapped into their national consciousness.

She's amazing.

Listen closely to the music at about 6:00. Do YOU know that song? I bet you'll grin when you figger it out. Wink

In addition, I saw a guy do sand art here in Songdo for in internationall conference last week. Probably about 95% as impressive. Sand/light is a great vehicle for art and emotion.
