No central focus here, but a few questions and observations.

My question is why does every bar/restaurant pretend to have grolsch? I don't love grolsch, but I think it's a decent beer. I have made it a point to order it every time I see it on a menu, and each time, they don't have it. They'll have a bunch of other imported beers, but never grolsch. I guess I just don't understand why it's on the menu if you never stock it.

Hoegarden is great. It's a bit steep, but it's only a little bit more expensive than domestic beers and cheaper than many other imported beers. It's also pretty tasty for a macro brew.

I have a new favorite beer in Korea, although it is quite expensive. I love Fuller's London Pride. It costs around 8,000Won/bottle, but it's a great beer. I have only tried two other English pale ales, but this one is the best in my opinion. I like English pale ales because they have a decent body, but they aren't way too thick like porters or stouts. They also aren't excessively hoppy like IPAs.

Also, I'd like to plug a random bar that has good beer and food. I don't recall the name, but there's an Italian place in Bundang near JeongJa station. The place is usually pretty empty, but they have heffeweizen on tap and a dart board. The last time I was there, a friend and I ate delicious pizza, drank way too many beers, and played darts for over six hours. The total cost for both of us was around 80,000won.

I like the draft wheat beer they have at Wa bar

also, if you are tempted a large selection of bottles of import beer are right at the table on ice just waiting to be drank (at least at the wa bar I went to)

I'd enjoy Fuller's if it were like 5000...but it's been going for 8-12(!). It's just OK, but it's not 12,000 Won OK.

Meh, still too much. I'd just upgrade to a Samuel Adams.

In Gangnam, near Gangnam station, there's a bar and restaurant called Castle Praha that has a pretty decent microbrew. They brew it there and have three varieties, and a "meter of beer" where you get ten glasses with some of each variety. It's a little big for one person, though...

Well, gentlemen, let me direct your attention to this thread:

Smile

Seriously, up at Ka-Brew we have a Pilsner, Hefeweizen, and Dark Ale. We will also have Alley Kat (a serious pale ale) on tap for 3,000 per cup. This Wednesday is sports night.

Oh, and did I mention that the house beer is ALL YOU CAN DRINK???

I tried London Pride and enjoyed it quite a bit. However, it doesn't come close to my favourite beer here: New Castle.

If you're into beers, give it a try - it's glorious. It can be found at Wa bar if they have it in stock (much like what OP was saying with Grolsch) for anywhere between W10~12,000. Hit up 3 Ally Pub or Sam Ryan's in Itaewon for a more reasonable price at W6,900.

Impossible to find at any supermarket except the Hannam Market for W6,000 per bottle.
