That isn't really news. Non-smart phones have been able to buy games via the built in browser for awhile now. Depending on the size of the game though the price isn't $5. Most games are small, and they generally ran around 1500W for the download fee, and about 3000W for the game itself.
What was lame before is that they charged you bandwidth for browsing their store. I can remember in Canada if you stayed on your carriers pages you weren't charged any bandwidth.
The alternative was to jump on the web, find the game you want, and punch in your phone number. It'd send you a text message you could hit a button on to auto-download the game without spending money browsing their store. |
