Yup, cancelled - along with the JinJu festival, something I missed last year and have been eagerly anticipating all year. |

No Kimchi festival in Gwangju this year, I guess it stands no chance against H1N1. |

The Kimchi Festival has been put back on, as has the Gwangju Chungjangno Festival.
As far as Jeollanam-do goes---the only area I really pay close attention to, I'd say it's about half and half. Half have been cancelled, half have said they'll go on as scheduled.
They're all ostensibly for swine flu, though it might be also that organizers are using that as an excuse to avoid holding events that might not be profitable.
The Jinju Festival and the Andong one are the two big cancellations so far. I have a fuller list here: http://briandeutsch.blogspot.com/search/label/Swine%20flu%20in%20Korea
Chances are your local festival may be cancelled. Definitely double- and triple-check before you go. That doesn't mean looking around in English, that means calling somebody at the festival office or checking the Korean papers. There STILL isn't any word on the Fireworks Festival cancellation in English. |
