I saw the no reservations episode where they ate chicken anus and I would like to avoid it. Sometimes I order random things off menus so I am a little concerned. If anybody knows how to say 'house of poo,' that is what they called it, in hangul that would be great as then I would know what to look for and avoid. If this has been done before sorry, the search function never works.
thanks

Truthfully, ddongjib is hard to find anyways. Don't worry about it.

That would be the old ddong jib, or 똥집.

They have it on the menu at my local hof, but they were kind enough to draw a fresh mound of poo beside it with even some flies buzzing around so you know what you are going to get.

Yeah, it's an anju, or side dish that is eaten with beer or soju. It's common fare at hofs and pojangmachas (the tents on the sidewalk where you sit on plastic chairs and drink soju)

that's what i had been told, but my mother-in-law has assured me that there are places that most certainly serve chicken a**hole. there are also places where you can get 오리똥집 (the duck variety) in uijeongbu and pocheon.

Actually, I meant to say it's a gizzard. The photo provided in the link shows what they are. They call it a rectum because it has a wrinkly-sphincter like appearance. Even a few less-educated Koreans think it is really rectum!

I've asked numerous people if it really is the asshole and they all said yes. So I assumed it was. I talked to an American friend (straight up red-neck country boy) about it and he said that his family eats the anus of turkeys so I guess some people really do eat that area.

I'm not trying to be facetious, but if you don't know what you're eating anyway, and it doesn't gross you out, does it really matter?

I've eaten it on numerous occasions. It is perfectly edible. I would prefer it to dried squid.

Yes, it's 닭똥집.

I went to Jeju last week for a conference and one of the things they're famous for is 흑되지, otherwise known as 똥되지.

You can buy it at almost every E Mart or Homeplus.

Tastes great on the BBQ with some galbi sauce.
