Anyone else sitting at their desk all week. They have cancelled my classes so kids can study and next week is exams. Sometimes I wonder why I am even here. 24 days until I head for Indonesia.

Kalimantan for the Indons. You already do speak some Indon: Orang-utan and mata hari is Indonesian. My previous job before the teaching gig was in numismatics. I spent a lot of time counting Indonesian currency. Talk about unstable currency! Million won is a fair chunk of change. Million Rupiah is ... depends on what day it is.

Back to the OP. You do understand that having your lessons cancelled for exam cram is a less than subtle diss on the foreign teacher's classes which undermines your credibility with the students in classes going forward?

I wouldnt relinquish those classes easily. Sounds to me like lazy K-teachers who dont care to consider the foreigner's situation in the classroom.

You could argue to have your material included on the test (& write some of the questions). You could make a case that not cancelling classes would make for better student attention & discipline.

I just dont like this idea of foreign teachers being shunted aside when study "really counts." There are solid arguments that can be made against this practice.

I agree with you and that is why I am leaving Korea next month.

Interestingly enough, I have been asked by one teacher to write questions for his test, and to proofread his test. Another just plain swiped questions off of a worksheet I made and used those for the test. So, yes, my stuff is being used, but 2/3 of my 'regular' classes are being taught just by the KT this week. Sometimes they ask me if they can do this because they just don't have time to fit it all in. Since they have already written their tests, they have to make sure they review all materials before the test.

I have plenty of lessons to create every week since I am given nothing by my school except the books, and can use the extra time!

What I truly do not understand is this: what the heck are my CTs doing writing mid-term and final exams?
