I'd say between 5 and 10 thousand won?
You will come to know and love kimbap during your sojourn here. A filling lunch for about 1 buck and a half, two and change if you get hte chamchi (tuna) version.
You'll get the chamchi version. |

Kimbap usually has little or no fresh fish inside, sushi rolls usually do. |

Yep! I'm 100% sure that the California roll came before Kimbab and the Americans exported it here, now the Koreans have Koreanised it. |

I feel sorry for people who eat Kimbab more than once a week. Sorry for such a poor diet, lack of lunch money etc... Live on! |

There is a type of sushi that is very similar to kimbap. In fact, I'm not sure how you can distinguish sushi (the typed rolled in seaweed) from kimbap. So I can see why one would think there is no difference between the two. A japanese or American person would look at a roll of kimbap and call it sushi.
I tried to explain this to the Korean kids at my college in the states when they were preparing a presentation for this international cuisine thing. I was telling them they need a truly unique Korean dish. Of course they didn't listen and come presentation time, the audience were like, "so this is just a type of Sushi?" The Korean kids had no answer but "No...its different." Couldn't explain what the difference was. Their other dish was bulgogi on a stick which the American audience thought were kebabs. Now they're gonna think Korean food is a rip-off of other cultures. |
