Another guy was banned from every Tesco in the UK because he took a bite from a bread roll and then paid for it.

At first I thought this was Tesco/Home Plus here in Korea so I blamed it on cultural differences, but this is in the UK? Is there something that's not reported or do they have some really grumpy staff?

In the UK it is clearly stated that you cannot consume anything until it is paid for - as long as anything is not paid for it technically belongs to the shop, whether you intend to pay for it or not.

The same reasoning for why they can accuse you of thieving if you just put something in your pocket because it is convenient to do so, even if you do intend to pay for it.

the reaction to their muffin-squeezing makes it sound like "muffin-squeezing" is being used as a euphemism. But its not. Actually squeezing muffins gets you a basement interrogation in the UK. Good to know. The Brits are serious about their muffins.

I wonder what would happen if you went into Tesco's and squeezed a few buns or melons... What if you accidentally knocked over a few faggots or insulted some bacon...?
