|
|
On Saturday I went with a few friends to the Uzbekistan place near Daegu station and the food was great (and cheap!). I remember the last time i was here (a few years ago) going to an excellent Indian-run Indian restaurant away from downtown in the middle of nowhere (not sure where it was).
Does anybody know if there are any other little authentic foreign (i.e. none-Western & none-Korean) restaurants hiding in Daegu? |

Not sure how serious you might be about finding great Indian food, but I was introduced to the best Indian restaurant I've ever known a few weeks ago.
Although not in Daegu, it is actually in Hayang (about 15 minutes by city bus from the end of the red line (Ansim) near the Catholic University). Owned and operated by a native from India, the food is delicious, carefully prepared, and Muslim friendly. It's a small place, but the interior and atmosphere were remarkable. A true gem hiding in the crowded side streets of that area.

I've also heard great things about that Indian restaurant in Hayang. Still have to go check it out. |

There's an authentic Pakistani restaurant near the big family mart at Kyemyeong University. It's great and pretty reasonably priced. |

I went there and the lamb (actually mutton) was average at best. The dishes were oily and the service was less then inviting. |

Suseong lake has a lot of nice restaurants. They have a really nice Indian place (Ganga) that's a bit expensive, but is a lot better then Maya. The people who run Maya are super nice though.
There's also a really nice Thai place that I can't remember the name of. I have yet to check out Napoli (Italian), but I heard it is also really good.
I'm still on the hunt for a Mexian place or somewhere for kebabs/gyros/etc. Someone share if you know anything! |

There is a Balinese restaurant, of all things, near the E-mart on the west end, at Seongseo station. It is not great but interesting. I really don't mind A Road to India in Banwoldang near the subway station; it's very reasonably priced. There is also a Pho restaurant and a Papa John's pizza nearby.
Galbijim says little about where this fabled Thai restaurant is, or if it still exists, and I've never found it on a search engine. I'd like to try it sometime if someone knows. |

Went to Ganga (Indian) last Sunday...an order of Samosas, two main dishes, two Nans and one rice all came to W48,000 and it was kick ass! The lamb was just plain awesome and so was the chicken curry with tofu added. Top shelf. Will go again...avoid the one downtown one block south of McDics. Just plain gross.
For Tex-Mex the Holy Grill downtown has some good choices. Ignore the critics here. I have yet to have a bad meal and others would say the same. They are not busy every weekend because the food is bad if you get my drift.
As for Mexican, try Siji Taco....it is not bad. Get off at Sinmae Station and walk south past the emart up the hill. At the 3rd set of lights take a left. Follow the street until you see a Family Mart. It is just before it. Closed Sundays though...church goers i think.
