So, it looks like I might end up having to find a new home for my 1 year old English Bulldog "Chubbs." The girlfriend and I just moved into an apartment owned by her father (we're renting from him). Things were going great, but now her dad has decided that he doesn't want our dog living in the apartment anymore. Her dad loves dogs, but thinks they whould be outside only animals.

If anybody's interested, this is a feeler to see what our options might be. He's almost a year old, fully house broken, great personality, weighs in at just under 50lbs...

This is breaking my heart, I really hope we can find a better solution to this problem...

By the way, anyone who "loves dogs" would never think they are outside only animals.

I'd love a bulldog! Great animals.... but my wife has yet to meet a pet that doesn't drive her crazy.

Maybe he just needs more education about dogs. OP, please try to find a better solution.

Ah, come on! Please post up some picture of your dog. Although I can't adopt a pet, I do enjoy seeing pet pictures on this forum. Bulldogs are great looking dogs.

Hello!

I am very, very interested in adopting a bulldog, specifically. I live in Seoul near Seoul National University. If the dog is still available, please send me some more details asap to [email protected]

Getting a bulldog is one of my top priorities, i hope to hear from you soon!

Step 1--Let daughter move into apartment with foreign boyfriend and foreign dog.
Step 2 -- Tell daughter to get rid of dog.
Step 3 -- Tell daughter to get rid of boyfriend.

Your gf's dad is a psychologist!\

... that's probably what I'd do if it were my daughter and I had any patience. (Actually any guy that tries to move in with my princess without putting a ring on her finger won't get through the front door without being castrated voluntarily or involuntarily . . . )

The last I heard, the situation was resolved and they were keeping the dog. I'm sure if you're looking for a bulldog and you keep checking the different adoption sites, you'll find one eventually. Animal Rescue Korea is a good resource.

Having read the situation in the previous thread ^ it seems that the resolution was only temporary. Has your GF tried talking to her father? I adopted my dog here in Korea and I cannot imagine a situation where I was forced to give him up. I would 100% move out.

That said...

Please try and get the dog the best possible home you can. Most foreigners are only in Korea for a year or two and you should ask any potential adopters what their plans are when they leave Korea. Flying a 50lb dog is VERY expensive and snub nosed dogs (bulldogs/pugs etc) have flight restrictions in certain temperatures. There are also quarantine laws in certain countries ( 6 months in the UK for example). Other countries require 6-7 months prep in blood work and vaccinations. Serious adopters will have done their research if they plan to leave Korea in the not too distant future.

While people often have the best intentions of adopting dogs here they sometimes are not prepared for the impact it will have on their social life. Weekends away are made very difficult without a car as dogs are not allowed on public transport. There are less pet sitting facilities and it is a big dog.

I also suggest you post an ad on animalrescuekorea.org under the adoptables section.

I wish you the best of luck finding a new home for your friend but please, give your friend the best chance possible at a good stable long-term home with the right people. It may take several months to find a good home for him. Has your father in law given you a time limit?
