| I just wondered if anyone has had any experience with either of these recruiters? Appletree says they will follow up and support teachers during the contract. I haven't heard of either firm, but they replied to my resume on Dave's. I'm not a newbie, so I know the contract basics and about the recent SMOE mess, etc. Thanks for any help. | Recently I talked with Jason from Maple Firm. He wasn't listening to any of my requests and attempted to pressure and manipulate me in order to take jobs he wanted to fill. As an experienced teacher I saw right through the BS and let him know, but I'm sure that technique gets plenty of newbies. I recommend checking some other sources before taking my advice, but I advise you to avoid this company. |

Oh how I would love to be pressured or manipulated. I have contacted twelve different agencies in the past few weeks and I have barely heard a thing. Most say there is nothing available then post jobs on the board a few dyas later. Do these jobs exist? Maybe not. Or maybe I am unemployable...
So, any agencies to recommend that might actually have jobs? |

| I don't have any recommendations at the moment as I just started my search and didn't use any recruiters previously, but it seems incredibly easy to get a job that is not in Seoul. I'm also having trouble getting responses, though I'm being quite specific about what I want at the moment. |

I strongly reccomend Appletree.
As far as it goes with trying to find a job, if you're having a hard time, can I ask what are you asking for? If you only want afternoons with no kindy in Hongdae or Gangnam, good luck. That's what everyone wants. But if you're willing to teach kindy or live outside of Seoul, you should be able to find a place. Of course it helps if you're North American and good looking... |

I'm not asking for anything too specific, something in Seoul or a large city in Gyeonggi-do. I have given no specifics as regards student's age, public or private, schedule, anything really. I have my docs and can start whenever.
As for being North American and good looking, unfortunately only of those terms applies to me...

Yup, if your having trouble finding a job email EVERY single ad you see. There are even public school positions available now in Gyeongi-do.
Spruce up your resume and get a picture from a good angle. |

All good advice but already done I'm afraid. I apply for everything I see, I got a new photo, updated my resume. Might be time to cut my losses really. |
