just wondering will korean immigration at incheon call my school to veryify if i really have vacation time or not when i apply for my re entry permit? i was going to call in sick for a few days, but i dont have a vacation time for another few months.

EDIT:

No they won't call to verify because they can't. - They don't ask you when you're going to be using the re-entry permit, so since they don't know when you'll be using it, they have no way of verifying if you have vacation during that time period. The permits are not dated, other than having an expiration date set I believe 1 year from the day you received them.

I'd be more concerned about someone from you school being nice and checking in on your while you're sick though...or at least trying to call you, but being unable to.

do you mean that for the mulitple re-entry permit?? Looking at my passports the re-entry thing has an expiry date of one month, not a year...this is teh new sticker one...the old stamp ones had the date i was returning from my trip.

Nevertheless, can you imagine immigration searching for your school, calling, and checking that every weigookin leaving has holiday? haha, i think they dont care aye man

The multiple entry re-entry sticker is good for one year. I thought the single re-entry sticker was too, but maybe I was mistaken and it's only valid for 30 days.

Either way, they don't ask for return-dates anymore now that they issue stickers (I didn't know they use ask for the return date with the stamps), so they have no way of verifying vacation days with his school.

OK, I'm home now & can grab my passport. Last year I got a single re-entry permit at Incheon. It was later in that same year that I got a 1 year multiple re-entry permit at Immigration.

So, my Incheon-issued single re-entry permit says (btw I'm an American, if it matters:)

Date of Issue: 2008.Jun.5
Good for: Single: re-entry into the Republic of Korean until: 2008.Jun15

So at least as of my experience at Incheon as an American on that date - the re-entry permit was good for 10 days (sorry, I had assumed it was good for a year - I had never checked, as like you, I was leaving Korea on that day). Never in the process did they ask me for any tickets.

I've heard of other Americans who didn't receive the multiple entry VISA. Immigration makes mistakes sometimes...it seems. The process for getting a new multiple entry visa was so difficult (or seemed it at least, according to my co-teacher, whom I trust entirely to have informed me to the best of their knowledge) that I just went for the multiple entry permit.
