My recruiter is asking for a letter from my advisor with my GPA and graduation date along with my two recommendation letters and my EPIK Application.

My GPA after a tough summer semester where I made two C's in the two courses I was taking (For the first time ever I might add) is about a 2.57.

I am taking three easy classes this semester and I graduate in December so I am pretty sure it will be a lot higher when I send my transcripts.

I guess my question is whether this will effect my chances at getting a job with EPIK when they see this, just let me know if i'm being paranoid or not. SInce I am a newbie to all this.

Absolutely NOT acceptable. The recruiter's only concern is making sure that you graduated from university, and they can do that by looking at your diploma. Your GPA is completely irrelevant. He doesn't have the right or the need to ever see your grades, or to hear from any advisor from your school, besides what's written in the reference letters. He's obviously worried about getting burned by processing your paperwork before you've actually graduated, but that's his own problem because he shouldn't be processing anything yet in the first place.

Find a new recruiter.

Are you talking about accumulative GPA? Because that can't possibly go down that low if you've only had "two C's" ever in your whole college career and have made all A's and B's in the past. I'm guessing you're a senior since you're looking for work. So yeah...quit lying.

I've never heard of GPA factoring into anyone's hire here. Are you sure he didnt just mean transcripts? You do need to show those. Grades arent the concern, just proof of course completion.

You get what you put into your courses. I don't get how some people even flaunt the fact they did poorly in university. One would think they'd do the opposite.

What GPA system does your school use? Because I don't see any way someone with significant progress in university and "only two C's" can have a 2.57.

I had one C, and my GPA was 3.77. Had I had two instead of one, my GPA would have been only slightly lower (maybe 3.6 or so).

I don't understand the mathematics of someone with all A's and B's having a 2.8 prior to a grade drop.

If you have 120 credit hours with two C's, and everything else is a B, that's 2.95.

That said, grades are not important when applying to teaching positions in Korea. They mean jack squat. Schools care about how you actually teach, not how hard you work or how smart you are.

The things that really count:
1. Your appearance and aura (age, females preferred, whites preferred most of the time but gyopos for some jobs) -- maybe 50%
2. Your experience -- maybe 30%
3. TEFL certifications and relevant training like degrees in education -- maybe 10%
4. Other factors that make them like you -- maybe 10%

GPA has NO bearing on getting a teaching job.

Should Korea have a minimum GPA standard for hiring NETs?

It wouldn't do anything except help. At the very least, it would introduce a standard whereas now there aren't any.
