I don't care if they know.
I look forward to the interpretation. It won't be the same, but that's neither a good or a bad thing.
The original was awesome. Anything else will be a bit of Coke next to a meaty, sweathy mouthed, heavy, got-it-all burger.
Eat your popcorn and like it. |

Hollywood is satan to people serious about cinema.
No, they're worse.
Damn it. Damn it all to bloody hell.
Will Smith as Oh Dae Su? Are you kidding me? And Speilberg is the most overrated director OF ALL GOD DAMNED TIME IN THE WHOLE HISTORY OF EVER!!!!!!!!!
So he made two good movies (Jaws and Schindler's.)
The rest are dilluted easy watching shite that should've been made by Kubric (AI and Saving Private... are examples that spring to mind...)
God damn it all. All to hell. |

It's a shame that the incest subplot will never make it in to American theaters. It was one of the most twisted aspects of the whole movie but there's no way it will happen.

Pretentious, self-indulgent tripe. Who the F- makes films for 12 year-olds and has the nerve to pass himself off as an auteur? |

I always thought films were for entertainment. To escape from everyday
pressures and concerns..to entertain and make a guy smile or laugh...
Old Boy is an atrocious film an the fact that a "remake" or whatever you wanna call it is mind-blowing. Any decent human would avoid such a film in any manifestation.
I'm an old soldier and have seen the vile depths and violence of humans upon one another but old boy is gutter.
I've been expossed to violence and death due to my occupation, but to go a theater....what the hades.... That film turned even my hardened stomach. |

Actually, it might be closer to the original manga. No incest, more intrigue. It was almost boring really compared with the film.
The Korean film was much better than the original comic. If anything this remake should give Park Chan Wook more exposure |

Different strokes for different folks.
I like cinema for escape sometimes and then I'll watch a Hollywood action movie or comedy...
I also like the pure aesthetics of cinema, the lighting, the cinematography, the acting skill, writing, direction, mise en scene etc... (I think Tarrantino is even more overrated than Spielberg, but no one can deny the aesthetic beauty of the kill Bill saga....)
I also like films that stimulate my mind and make me think in new ways rather than relax...
I also like very sad, emotional films for catharsis at times.... (Wong Kar Wei type stuff...) |

Like it or not spielberg moved and shaped cinema and will always be known for such. Yeh, he has made some crap but so did kubrik.
ET, Close encounters, jurassic park, band of brothers, indiana jones, the list can go on.
cheesy crap, sure sometimes but people fkin loved those movies when they first came out.
He just fills a want. To be honest i love deep, story-telling cinema but sometimes i just want a blockbuster to gawp at. |

No argument here.
I still assert that he is overrated and has done little to take cinema in new and exciting directions, other than a bit of cgi and mechanical sharkery if that's what makes a good movie for you.... |
