OP - Along the lines of what blackcat says, when you talk to your boss about it next, just say you understand and then mention in passing that family must not be as important in Korea as it is in the USA. Next thing you know, you might just get more time off so he can show you how you're wrong. |

Quit, take the return ticket home, then start up again with either the same company or a new place after one month. Taking short vacations is a pain for crapwon owners to deal with because of their scheduling needs. |

Hogwan jobs are a dime a dozen, family is really all you've got at the end of the day. Don't let others shame you into thinking this is just 'homesickness' and you're being unreasonable. It's not unreasonable to want to see your family at least once a year. Trust me, something horrible can happen at anytime and then you'll be kicking yourself for choosing a near minimum paying job over your loved ones. So your boss thinks it's simpler to find a total replacement than be a bit human and let his employee see his family? Fine, let him.
I remember reading several books about how Koreans love their families more than we do.... |
Ditto ~ if they really want you they'll let you have two weeks, if not, who cares? If they don't care enough about you as a human being to let you spend 2 freaking weeks with your family, is the job really worth keeping? |

Go home and enjoy the holiday. Then find a new job while at home or return. I recommend finding a job at home and returning to SK for the occassional holiday. |

if your contract finishes Nov 17, does that mean that you spent last thanksgiving in korea, or does it mean that you're not in a 365-day contract? |
