I saw the opened up their banking services (- insurance) to civilians nowadays and was pondering opening up an account with them. Seems feedback is generally good, but the details on the different types of accounts is lacking. Free checking apparently has like 8 different types of accounts: Checking, Savings, Checking and Savings, Premium Savings...
Anyone know if there is any big difference between the different types of accounts (e.g. Checking vs Checking & Savings)? |

I believe USAA is open only to retired/active military or their family members. I have accounts with them because my father was in the military in Japan. |

I use USAA for auto and home insurance and a couple of mutual funds.
The property and casualty insurance is consistently rated #1 or #2 along with Amica. Great service, best premium rates I've ever had, pays claims without any BS. They also will insure you car (if you have one) in Korea. Also, since it's member owned, you get money every year (if they are profitable-which is every year) credited to an account (I forgot what it's called) and you can use at a savings device or pay premiums with it.
You'd have to call their 800 number for eligibility info
If you can get USAA, I'd say do it. |
