For my Korean wife.

We're moving to Nova Scotia, and it seems the Toronto Consulate is the closest place for any issues my wife may have. I'm trying to do as much of the logistics for our move as possible, as I want her to focus on enjoying the move and saying goodbye to her family. What kind of emergency or support services are offered?

1) Will she register her address with them like I did with my embassy here in Korea?

2) Is there an emergency hot line in addition to the business number?

3) Is there a "life in Canada" important information for Koreans section or anything?

She might prefer it if you stay in Toronto and not Nova Scotia. No offense, but she will stand out like a sore thumb there. People will stare too (especially in a small town.) For consular information, check out the website. Mt boss was living in a small town in Canada and hated when people would stare at her. Mind you putting up an umbrella in a snowstorm would get stares no matter who you were.
As for life in Canada, you know what its like. She will miss kimchi and Go-chu Jeong. She will miss the crowds of people and the shopping.

The Korean consulate that deals with Nova Scota would probably be the one in Montreal. Then there's also the embassy in Ottawa of course.

Maybe can find some information that you need. I found the site to be a bit unuseful, but talking to them on the phone is easier.

Hopefully the move goes well on the move!

Wish it were in the cards. I'm studying the Mi'kmaq, and that's NS, or NB.

I agree that Toronto is prob the best place for people to go back to. But if thats not where your job is then what can ya do. It depends so much on the person and how they handle it.

My advice is to get her busy at something fairly early.

Best of luck.

You do realize there are more than just French people in Montreal, right? There are English speakers here. Wink

Since they deal with English teachers attaining their E2 Visa, they speak pleanty of English as well, so you don't have to worry about that at all if that's what you were worried about.
